With the European DORA regulation demanding greater guarantees of «operational digital resilience», many financial institutions are asking themselves what measures they can put in place to ensure the availability of IT services in the face of unwanted disruptions.
Given that compliance is required by January 2025, having ISO 27001 and 22302 certifications for information security and business continuity is a solid starting point, because it demonstrates a significant focus on these issues.
However, one must be careful not to focus only on security management, as opposed to the information one has to manage it: in order to guarantee the delivery of services, in fact, one needs an in-depth knowledge of all the elements (technological and otherwise) that are part of the chain, unravelling that skein of connected assets, critical and less critical.
ITIL gives us answers on this point: on the one hand with the Service Catalog, which offers clarity of vision as to which services are critical, and on the other hand with Dependency Mapping and its meticulous 'decomposition' of services into their configurations and dependencies within the CMDB.
In this respect, there are also technologies that ensure a complete and self-populated analysis perimeter: for DORA, it is essential to have an approach that combines strategy and operativeness so as to be aware but also reactive in real time.

We will go beyond the simple documentation of IT services, discovering what elements need to be lined up to guarantee service availability.
We will delve into discovery and dependency mapping technologies that make populating data within the CMDB less burdensome.
We will go into detail about internal service bindings to prevent and avoid a domino effect every time a criticality occurs.
We will explain how to exploit this information to give the business greater assurance on the business continuity of services and guide IT investment and improvement decisions.
